As a wetland, the main attraction of La Gola is the birdlife that can be seen. Mallard (Anas platyrhynchos), moorhen (Gallinula chloropus) and little egret (Egretta garzetta) are the regulars, but also sardinian warbler (Sylvia melanocephala), serin (Serinus serinus), blackbird (Turdus merula), crossbill (Loxia curvirostra), zitting cisticola (Cisticola juncidis), or wood pigeon (Columba palumbus) can be heard or seen while we walk through the itinerary.
Other groups such as fish, amphibians, reptils and arthropods can been seen at La Gola. The iberian water frog (Pelophylax perezi) and the common wall gekko (Tarentola mauritanica) can be found on the shore or lying on a rock. Mullet (Chelon labrosus), Sea bass (Dicentrarchus labrax) or Eel (Anguilla anguilla) make up the regular ichthyofauna of the park. On another note, many species of insect are just beginning to become apparent in the park thanks mainly to photographic activities organised by the OTC. Various butterfly species, dragonflies, bees, flies and beetles have been identified this way.
